Resources for Educators

Webinar Series for Educators

Our free quarterly webinars focus on various topics of interest to our educational community. These live sessions are 1.5 hours in length, include a question and answer period, and a portion of each session is recorded for future access (see below).

Topics include everything from general teaching tips to specific information for hands-on programs in the areas of ethics, communication, business, student services, and much more. We help instructors and administrators provide the best learning environment that they can, and have fun doing it.

Content experts and leaders in education often join us. You should too!

Embodied Presence: Cultivating Meaningful Connection with Self, Students, and Subject

Wednesday

November 13th, 2019

2pm eastern

Join us on Wednesday, November 13th, as we explore Embodied Presence as the ability to access and utilize your fundamental wholeness and wisdom in order to create authentic relationship with yourself, your students and the subject you teach with Carey Smith.

We will work with the practices of ground, center and aspiration that will assist you in building a body (or soma) that responds in the classroom with adaptability, resilience, strength and clarity. With a focus on present-centered experience, we will bring our attention, awareness and dedication to developing skills that are life-enhancing, sustainable, and generate more openhearted curiosity. As an educator, you will learn the somatic distinctions of length, width and depth and how each of these dimensions both literally and metaphorically expand your capacity to be in meaningful relationships. You will practice standing and moving from ground, center and aspiration as unifying principles that allow more life, enthusiasm and connectedness to arise. You will explore Embodied Presence as a potent tool for creating stability and trust in a dynamic learning environment.

Carey Smith is a master teacher with four decades of experience in body-oriented education. She is the founder and director of the Center for Embodied Teacher Education and creator of The Spirit of Learning®: Teacher Training Program for Massage, Somatic and Healthcare Educators. She is a contributing author to Teaching Massage: Foundational Principles in Adult Education for Massage Program Instructors. Her first book was published in 2006, entitled Awakening Wisdom: Exploring the Confluence Between Learning, Healing and Creativity. Carey achieved the designation of Master Somatic Coach from Strozzi Institute in 2008 and carries forward this work of embodied learning and leadership. She currently lives on a farmstead on the Big Island of Hawaii with her husband, Rick Rosen, where she continues to work as an educator, coach and consultant.
